4th Annual Dodgeball Tournament in Memory of Alec Torchon

Every year Life of the Party and Rec Sports organize a dodgeball tournament in remembrance of Alec “AJ” Torchon. AJ was a UCSB student who passed away three years ago as a result of mixing alcohol and drugs. The night of his passing, he had just finished an extensive shift refereeing a dodgeball tournament. They honor his memory by throwing a huge dodgeball tournament in his name, while educating the community about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. This year the UCSB Police Department was one of the competing teams in the tournament.

The tournament was held on March 5th and included free dinner, music, photo booth, snacks, and a special message from Alec's parents. Games ran all night long with professional referees at each arena. While the UCSB Police Department team did not win the tournament, our true prize was being able to be a part of such an important, well organized and amazing event!
