2017 Citizen's Academy
In partnership with the Santa Barbara Sheriffs Office, we are excited to announce the start of the 2017 Citizen's Academy. This academy is a great opportunity for community members to grow in their knowledge of public safety, civilian rights, emergency preparedness, as well as the history and policies of local law enforcement agencies. Topics covered will include Search and Seizure Law, Active Shooter training, K9 Operations and much more!
Applications are being accepted for the upcoming Citizen’s Academy until Monday, March 20, 2017.
The Citizen's Academy is free of charge.

Participants in the Citizen’s Academy must be 18 years of age or older. Applications must be received no later than Monday, March 20, 2017. There are two ways you can turn in your application: Scan and email the application to firstname.lastname@example.org or to email@example.com; drop it off in a sealed envelope at the SBSO Marketplace Substation (7042 Marketplace Dr., Goleta).
The Academy training sessions will be held on Wednesday nights, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., beginning April 5th and continuing through May 17th. You must be able to attend all of these sessions. There will be one Saturday session held on May20th for a graduation and celebratory BBQ. Classes will be held at various locations throughout the county. The first class will be held at the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department Headquarters (4434 Calle Real, Santa Barbara, CA 93110).
