Greetings,
Whether you are a current or prospective student, visitor, or a member of the faculty or staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to
the University of California, Santa Barbara. As Chief of Police, I work hard to both maintain and enhance existing community
partnerships that will serve to make this rich and unique campus a safe place to live, learn, and work. Each member of my public
safety team, including law enforcement, civilian support personnel, emergency medical services, and Community Service Officers (CSO),
is dedicated to the safety and success of the University community. The public safety professionals working here have certifications
and training that are readily recognized as some of the best our nation has to offer. We remain committed to providing a wide variety
of services and outreach programs in place to educate, enhance, and develop personal and community awareness around security and
safety issues.
Both maintaining a safe campus and reducing the fear of crime in our community remains an integral component towards supporting the
enhanced quality of life we enjoy here at UCSB. Through our existing community partnerships and by utilizing a strong data-driven
model, my department can quickly identify trends and develop intervention strategies rapidly. Our hope is that all members and visitors
in our community will continue to participate in fostering a safe campus environment for everyone. If you see, know of, or witness
unusual, suspicious, criminal, or disruptive behavior, please contact our campus public safety dispatch center at (805) 893-3446 and
report the details immediately. The safety and security of our campus community is everyone’s responsibility and I request your
assistance in continuing to make our community safe.
Please know that your academic goals, visit, or work here is supported by the Department of Public Safety. I hope that you find your
stay, visit, or day of work an experience that is as magnificent as the ocean views and the prestigious faculty and programs we offer.
Please feel free to provide me with comments, suggestions, or questions that you may have by contacting me directly at:
